Discover Oman Guidelines

 Feb 17 – Feb 27

The weeks of Feb 17^thto Feb 27^th are Discover Oman weeks for Grade One.  

This is just a reminder about what your child will need to wear and expect for each day.  

Sunday Feb 17              Ghala Hot Springs Hike   8:30 – 11:30

Please bring:

·        Closed toe walking shoes (No crocs or sandals)

·        Water bottle and Snack

·        Hat

·        Sunscreen (or even better, please put sunscreen on your child before s/he comes to school)

·        Small bag to carry own belongings (snack, water bottle, etc.) – please make sure this is a small, easy to carry bag or backpack, not your child’s usual school backpack. For example, the small canvas bag your child decorated for our Living Things project would be great!

Tuesday  Feb 19           Shatti Beach                  9:00 – 2:00

Please Bring                  

·        Bathing Suit / Uniform (Please wear regular uniform to school, we will change before we get on the bus.)

·        Towel

·        Appropriate shoes for the beach (Crocs, sandals, etc)

·        Water bottle

·        Picnic lunch (We are eating lunch at the beach so please pack a lunch for your child this day that they can eat at the beach.  Your child will not be able to buy lunch at the canteen this day.)

·        Separately packed snack to be eaten at school in the morning (like usual)

·        Hat

·        Sunscreen (apply at home before arriving to school)

·        Beach toys (sand pales, shovels, balls, paddle ball, etc)

·        Bag to carry own belongings (The bag might need to be a bit bigger for this day! But, again, please use a different bag from the school backpack, so it is packed in advance and so students don’t need to empty school belongings as we are preparing to leave for the trip. Thanks for your assistance.)

Sunday Feb 24              Natural History Museum       8:30 – 11:30

Please Bring:

·        Water bottle and Snack

·        Small bag to carry own belongings

·        This is a Day 1 and students will have PE and library when they return

Tuesday Feb 26            Explore Bausher Fort            8:30 – 11:30

Please Bring:

·        Closed toe walking shoes (No crocs or sandals)

·        Water bottle and Snack

·        Sunscreen (or even better, please put sunscreen on your child before s/he comes to school)

·        Small bag to carry own belongings

Wednesday Feb 27       Omani Culture Day at TAISM

Please Bring:

·        Children may wear traditional Omani clothes to school

·        Water bottle and Snack (as usual; we will be at school this day)

We will be leaving shortly after school starts for most trips so please make sure your child arrives at school by 8:30.  If you are a parent volunteer please note that there are no extra spaces on the bus, so parents will need to carpool in their own vehicles.  Please meet us at 8:30 at the classroom on the day you are chaperoning. 

All days except Tuesday, we will be eating lunch at school so your child may choose to bring their lunch or to order from the canteen as usual. 

Also please remember there will be no after school activities on the Discover Oman trip days . We know it will be an exciting  few weeks for everyone.
